Step #1
Slide hub and collar onto the axle.
Install the key into the axle slot (key must be at least 1-1/4" long).
Be sure the interlocking sides of the hub and collar are facing each
other.
Note: The hub assembly may be installed onto the axle in either
direction.
Step 2
Slide the hub over the key so that the key is flush on the flat side of
the hub (side with engraving) and protruding on the collar side.
Step 3
Index the collar so that it will interlock onto the hub. Be sure
to align the key relief in the collar with the key.
In the photo below you can also see that the key is flush with this side
of the hub.
Step 4
Slide the collar over the hub. At this point the key must be flush
or protruding from the collar.
Step 5
Rotate the collar 90 degrees so that the setscrew will tighten down onto
the key.
Add a small amount of 242 Loctite (or similar threadlocker) to the
setscrew threads.
As you tighten the setscrew be sure that the collar stays straight and
even on the axle and does not cock.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! Yes it has to be tight but you don't have to
kill it.
Below is a photo of an installed unit. The collar is positively
locked onto the key with the setscrew and the hub is interlocked in the
collar. The hub will now float and oscillate freely within the
collar.
